Ferrosilicon producers seek delay in anti-dumping case 

NEW YORK - U.S. ferrosilicon producers have asked the U.S. Commerce Department's International Trade Administration (ITA) to extend by 135 days its final decision in a dumping investigation into ferrosilicon imports from Russia.

NEW YORK - Ferrosilicon market participants expect the recent preliminary anti-dumping decision by the U.S. Commerce Department's International Trade Administration (ITA) on imports from Russia and Venezuela to have little immediate impact on the market.

Georgian SiMn strike continues 

Labor strikes in Georgia have reportedly crippled Privat's Georgian Manganese silicomanganese plant, Zestafoni. Workers, and many other trade groups across the country, were demanding better pay and improved working conditions. In 2013, Georgian exports of silicomanganese to the US totaled 105,600 mt, representing nearly one third of total US imports, with Georgia also being the single largest exporter to US buyers.

US Commerce releases FeSi duties 

The US Department of Commerce released its preliminary determination of antidumping duties on Russian and Venezuelan ferrosilicon. The Department reported 0% duties on Russian ferrosilicon, and 27.27% on Venezuelan ferrosilicon. The next stages of the investigation will take a deeper look into the reported figures, and a final determination is anticipated in May.

Initial FeSi ruling mixed vs. Russia, Venezuela 

NEW YORK – The U.S. Commerce Department's International Trade Administration (ITA) has issued a mixed preliminary decision in an anti-dumping case on ferrosilicon from Russia and Venezuela, imposing no duties on Russian producer RFA International LP but levying a 27.27-percent margin on Venezuelan producers, including FerroAllantica de Venezuela SA.
