US Alloy Producer Targets BHP Unit For Anti-Dumping Duties

A West Virginia manufacturer on Thursday lodged petitions with U.S. trade authorities that could lead to hefty tariffs on a BHP Billiton Ltd. subsidiary's shipments of a critical alloy additive used in steel production, alleging that the foreign company has sold its product in the U.S. at unfairly low prices.

Felman files antidumping claim against Australian imports

US silicomanganese producer Felman Production has filed an antidumping petition with the US Department of Commerce and the US International Trade Commission against silicomanganese imports from Australia, the company said February 19.

Felman, operator of a 105,000 mt/year silicomanganese plant in New Haven, West Virginia, filed the petition "in response to large and increasing volumes of low-priced imports of silicomanganese from Australia's only producer, Tasmanian Electro Metallurgical Company," it said in a statement.

 Facility shut down, effective immediately, due to furnace transformer failure; Repair time estimated at three weeks

NEW HAVEN, W. Va. (July 25, 2017) – Felman Production, LLC (“Felman”) today reported that it has temporarily shut down its New Haven, West Virginia facility after a transformer failure occurred at one of the Company’s two operational electric arc furnaces. Felman estimates it will remain shut for approximately the next three weeks as the necessary repairs are conducted.
