FELMAN PRODUCTION, LLC SUBMITS APPLICATION WITH WEST VIRGINIA’S PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION FOR 10-YEAR SPECIAL ELECTRIC CONTRACT 

 - Proposed Special Rate Designed to Enable Felman to Restart Production - 

NEW HAVEN, W. Va. (August 30, 2013) – Felman Production, LLC (“Felman” or the “Company”) submitted an application today to West Virginia’s Public Service Commission for a 10-year special rate electric contract. If approved, the special rate would enable Felman to restart production and save up to 200 jobs, while ensuring other West Virginia ratepayers do not incur any higher cost than they would incur if Felman were forced to shut down permanently.

Felman Production, LLC Announces Layoffs 

NEW HAVEN, W.Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Felman Production, LLC (“Felman” or the “Company”), which temporarily suspended operations on June 28th due to challenging ferrosilicomanganese market conditions, today announced it has been forced to lay off approximately 100 employees, effective August 31, 2013.

Felman Production, LLC Announces Strategic Cost Reduction Measures

NEW HAVEN, W.Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In an effort to reduce manufacturing costs and remain competitive in a challenging silicomanganese market, Felman Production, LLC (“Felman” or the “Company”) today announced it will temporarily shut down one of its three electric arc furnaces on May 31st. Furthermore, the Company announced it will reduce its workforce and overtime. Felman confirmed the decline in silicomanganese prices over the past several months combined with rising manufacturing costs, such as electricity, resulted in its decision to move forward with the changes.
