USITC says ‘no’ to duties on ferrosilicon

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) announced this week a negative final determination of anti-dumping duties on Venezuelan ferrosilicon. The ITC reported that the US industry was neither materially injured nor was it threatened with material injury by Venezuelan imports. The announcement followed the Department of Commerce's 22.84% duty determination earlier this quarter.

No US Duties for Venezuela ferrosilicon

NEW YORK - Imports of ferrosilicon from Venezuela are not injuring or threatening to injure the U.S. industry, the International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled Aug. 26. As a result, no anti-dumping duties will be imposed.

Felman starts second WV silicomanganese furnace: union

Felman Production is producing silicomanganese again and has started the second of three furnaces at its 105,000 mt/year plant in New Haven, West Virginia, having restarted the first furnace a month ago, an official with the United Steelworkers union told Platts on August 4.

Russia Out, Venezuela in

Consumers were mostly back at ease this past week following the reaffirmation of 0% anti-dumping duty on Russian ferrosilicon by the US Department of Commerce (DOC), while the body issued a 22.84% duty on Venezuelan ferrosilicon. The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) held its public hearing this past week as well, while its final determination will be released on September 8, 2014, the first business day following its September 7 deadline. There will be no final determination from the ITC on Russia due to the DOC's negative final determination.
