ITC begins silicomanganese anti-dumping investigation

NEW YORK - The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has initiated an anti-dumping duty investigation into silicomanganese imports from Australia following a petition from Felman Production LLC.

"Unless the Department of Commerce extends the time for initiation ... the Commission must reach a preliminary determination in anti-dumping duty investigations in 45 days, or in this case by Monday, April 6, 2015. The Commission's views must be transmitted to Commerce within five business days thereafter, or by Monday, April 13, 2015," the ITC said in a Federal Register notice Feb. 26.

New Haven, W.Va.-based Felman recently filed the trade complaint in response to what it called "large and increasing volumes of low-priced imports of silicomanganese" from Australia's only producer, Tasmanian Electro Metallurgical Co.
