US silicomanganese narrows, EU flat

Prices for US silicomanganese narrowed this past week to 51-53 cents per lb, ex-warehouse, as additional mills slowly entered the spot market in a sluggish steel market. A number of sources suggested that prices could go even lower now that the marker has begun to decline; with the rising value of the US dollar and decline of the euro, many felt that the US premium would slowly erode in a weaker domestic steel market.
