FELMAN PRODUCTION REPORTS ON TEMPORARY SHUT DOWN OF ITS NEW HAVEN, W. VA. FACILITY

Facility shut down, effective immediately, due to furnace transformer failure; Repair time estimated at three weeks

NEW HAVEN, W. Va. (July 25, 2017) – Felman Production, LLC (“Felman”) today reported that it has temporarily shut down its New Haven, West Virginia facility after a transformer failure occurred at one of the Company’s two operational electric arc furnaces. Felman estimates it will remain shut for approximately the next three weeks as the necessary repairs are conducted.

On Sunday, July 9th, an initial event occurred which resulted in an arcing of the furnace’s power buss. Following a successful restart of the furnace a week later on July 16th, the same furnace experienced another arc in its power buss, which consequently led to a transformer failure, on Tuesday, July 18th. During the plant shut down and repair period, Felman engineering personnel are working to repair the furnace’s buss and change out its transformer.

Felman is notifying customers regarding any potential impact the plant shut down will have on their current or future orders.
