Felman continues with two furnaces: USW official

Felman Production continues to operate two furnaces at its 105,000 mt/year silicomanganese plant along the Ohio River in New Haven, West Virginia, but apparently has no immediate plans to restart a third furnace, according to a United Steelworkers union official.

 Eramet Marietta power deal for manganese alloys plant approved by Ohio regulators

Eramet Marietta has won unanimous approval from the Ohio Public Utilities Commission to source generation supply competitively for its manganese ferroalloys plant near the Ohio River in Washington County, Ohio.

 Eramet Marietta power deal a step closer to finalization

US manganese alloys producer Eramet Marietta has signed an agreement with the staff of the Ohio Public Utilities Commission which allows the company's Marietta, Ohio, plant to source its electricity supply competitively, a lawyer acting for the company said September 29.

DOC sets duties on Australian SiMn

Late last week, the US Department of Commerce reported preliminary duties on Australian silicomanganese. Last Monday, CRU Ryan's Notes noted that the preliminary duty was levied at 11.93% for Tasmanian Electro Metallurgical Company (TEMCO) of South32. Because TEMCO was the only mandatory respondent in the case (no other producer exists), the 11.93% duty applies to all other producers/exporters of Australia. Commerce has subsequently instructed the US Customs and Border Protection to collect the cash deposits at the preliminary rate.
